04/June/15 Dick Advocaat Returned to Sunderland Sunderland Association Football Club officially announced, Dick Advocaat has agreed to return to the Stadium of Light as head coach. After taking over as interim head coach in March 2015, the experienced Dutchman had helped Sunderland to be cleared of relegation on 20 May 2015, with one match remaining after a 0-0 draw at Arsenal. One week after that, Advocaat announced the end his managerial career as he left the Black Cats. After a thorough discussion with the club Chairman, Sporting Director and his family, Advocaat decided to return to Sunderland by signing a one-year contract. Former England captain Rio Ferdinand announces his retirement from football.
Ferdinand, aged 36, decided to bring an end to his career.
The former West Ham, Leeds and Manchester United central defender spent last season at QPR. Ferdinand spent 12 years at Old Trafford where he became one of the most revered centre-backs in United’s history. He made 455 Reds appearances, scored eight goals and won six Premier League titles, one European Cup, a FIFA Club World Cup and two League Cups. He left in May 2014 to join Queens Park Rangers.
